Nora and Leo spend the night examining a figure that has appeared on the wall of a house under restoration: two embracing bodies, made of pressures bleeding through layers of limewash from different eras. The author

Marina Corvella writes about objects that shouldn't be able to talk and people who talk too late.

Her Spanish-language debut, El custodio ("The Custodian"), is a work of contemporary fantasy built like a case file: houses that remember, curses passed down through inheritance, and one question that keeps resurfacing — who owns the truth we keep about someone else?

It's the first book in Objetos con memoria ("Objects with memory"), a series about inherited objects and what they do with what their owners never said. The second, El cierre en falso, is on its way.
